About the 8th Annual 2007 Rock to North Little Rock
St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The top ten things for people to know about the Eighth Annual 2007 Rock to North Little Rock St. Patrick’s Day Parade are:

  1. The Parade is on St. Patrick’s Day! – Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 1 p.m.
  2. The Parade will begin in Little Rock and end in North Little Rock! – The Parade Route begins from the Clinton Library, travels through River Market, crosses the Main Street Bridge, travels through the Argenta Historic District, ending at Sixth & Main in North Little Rock.
  3. Headliners for this year’s Parade are two marching bagpipe bands: the Red River Pipes and Drums from Shreveport, LA. and the Lyon College Pipe Band from Batesville, AR.
  4. The parade features clowns, Irish Wolfhounds, antique cars, decorative floats and much, much more!
  5. The Grand Marshall of the Parade is Peggy Loyd! – Peggy is a past president of the Irish Cultural Society of Arkansas, currently serves as director of public relations and is an eleven-year volunteer for the organization.
  6. After the Parade, the celebration continues with “Dancing at the Crossroads” – a program of Irish music and dance featuring performances by the McCafferty School of Irish Dance and the O’Donovan School of Irish Dance and music from the Catholic High Band, Shamrock Strings, the Arkansas Celtic Music Society and many other Irish musicians.
  7. The location of Dancing at the Crossroads has moved! – After the Parade come to the Arts Scene Gallery and Art Market in the old Rye Furniture Building at the corner of Maple and Broadway in North Little Rock, next to the Wyndham Hotel. The event is free! Food and beverages will be available for purchase and there will be activities for children.
  8. The Parade is presented by the Irish Cultural Society of Arkansas (ICSA) as a fun, free, family-oriented community service event for residents of central Arkansas and celebrates cultural diversity in Arkansas. Founded in 1996, the Society provides programs demonstrating aspects of the culture of Ireland for the education of Arkansans, who have ancestors from one of the seven Celtic nations (Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Isle of Man, Galicia/Spain, Brittany and Ireland). ICSA invites Arkansans of all cultures to come watch the parade and join in the fun.
  9. For more information, visit the Parade website: www.LRIrishParade.com and thank the many sponsors and donors who supported the Parade this year.
  10. The weather forecast for Saturday, March 17th calls for above normal temperatures with a low chance for rain. And even if it does rain, that just makes the day ALL THE MORE IRISH! It’s a GREAT DAY FOR A PARADE! Bring your families, children young and old, and come join in the fun!
